The indian cricket engima

Its been amazing to see the Indian team perform in the WorldCup. The Champions, the Gods, the Cup favorites failed to even qualify in the super 8. What were the things that went wrong?????? The Indian team has worlds best batsmen in the world(ST, RD and SG) Their combined avgs match or exceed the avg of some of the teams participating in the world cup, how is then they failed to deliver? The below are some of the reasons I feel the Indian team has failed to play well

Reason 1. Too much hype - One has to really wonder whether the biggies of the Indian team are worth this hype, they fail when it matters a lot to the Indian team. The best of them SRT, he is a role model for so many youngsters in India what kind of influence does he impart on them when he fails particularly at that point of the match when his skills are needed at a maximum. Moreover the media has been portraying them in such a way that they are demigods.

Reason 2. Suspicious Team selection -- A few senior members of the team always manage to be in the side no matter how they perform. Aji Aga for example, no one knows why was he selected for the world cup, there are so many good young bowlers who could have changed the situation of the match in his place. The team selection appears to be governed by some mafia or recommendations , players are no longer selected on their ability to perform.

Reason 3. Competition -- The Indian batting department lacks competition players are not fighting for the places in the side rather they are busy making money and finding vaasta's to get into the Indian team. Consider the example of SG , he was dropped from the Indian side, the fear of losing his place and desire to perform has made him a much better and responsible player

Reason 4. Politics- India is a country of almost 1 billion people and we cannot produce one good team is it that the Indians lack the talent or is it that the Indians are incapable of entering into the competitive sports domain ( just restricted to the education and IT). India I believe has the talent and the will to take on any team in the world but the problem is that the best people do not make it to the top because of the petty politics adopted at the ground level.

Reason 5. Captaincy-- This issue has been haunting the Indian team for a long long time. The present captain is a very good human being, a perfect player but unfortunately not a good leader. This was evident in the India-Sri Lanka match the field placements were made after there was a catching chance at that location. India has to find a good natural leader in the team.

Reason 6. Coach-- People in India have a general tendency that anything from foreign is good no matter how it is. This belief is also applied in hiring coaches for the Indian cricket team. Are they not sufficient good coaches in the Indian cricketing world? If a coach is an Indian he is more aware of the cultural and liguistic backgrounds of the Indian team members.
